Kismayo — At least one person was slain and 5 others injured after car crash in Kismayo, a strategic coastal town in southern Somalia, witnesses told Shabelle on Wednesday.
The car accident is said to have taken place after two cars, one of them was a big track, collided.
Local residents confirmed that the two cars were running in high speed before the collision.
Witnesses noted that local residents rushed to the victims and took them to the medical facilities in the town of Kismayo, about 500 kilometers south of the Somali capital Mogadishu.
Al shabaab fighters in the region have reportedly arrested the drivers of the cars for questioning the causes of the deadly tragic accident.
However, Somalia has not had any functioning central government with the ability to repair and the roads and to regulate driving cars since 1991 when the military was overthrown.
