Ivory Coast star Abdouleye Meite is keen to stay at English Premier League club West Bromwich Albion.
The defender had been on the verge of leaving the club in January after failing to feature in the league in the first half of the season.
But his career was revived by the arrival of Roy Hodgson as manager.
Meite has now featured in the Baggies’ last seven games and has helped them to make almost certain their Premier League future next season.
“I want to stay because we have a new manager and he can do a good job here,” he told the club’s official website.
“Yes, I did think I might need to leave – it was hard for me but I’ve tried to be professional.
“In football you can be a hero one day and on the floor the next – I was on the floor but now I am playing ok.
“I am happy here and yes of course I would like to stay.”
