Malaga Set To Sack Owusu Abeyie Over Disciplinary Problems

Quincy Owusu Abeyie has not been seen at Malaga for several days

Quincy Owusu Abeyie’s contract with Spanish side Malaga is expected to be cancelled by the end of this week without any payment due the Ghana winger for abandoning his post.

The ex-Dutch youth international has not reported for training for over a week now after falling out with coach Manuel Pellegrini.

His agent will meet the club on Wednesday to discuss the cancellation of the contract over disciplinary problems which will absolve the club from any claims of a payout.

Fears were raised about his health when he consistently absented himself from training which prompted club officials to visit his home.

The Ghanaian has not been present and has not picked phone calls from Malaga’s sporting director and team-mates.

The former Arsenal player has not trained for the past one week which has prompted the decision to sack him.

His disruptive behaviour has angered coach Manuel Pellegrini which led to the decision to flog him to train with the junior side but the Ghanaian refused to train there.

Abeyie’s problems at Malaga started two weeks ago when he started arriving late for training.

He was left out of the squad for last week’s game against Mallorca but his conduct did not improved which led to the decision to axe him from the first team.

The Ghanaian has refused to train with the junior side and has not been seen for two days.

Spanish radio stations say Malaga are likely to cancel his contract which will pave the way for him to return to Qatar where his huge salary can be paid.

The 25-year-old played for Ajax, Arsenal, Spartak Moscow, Celta Vigo, Birmingham, Cardiff, Portsmouth, Al Sadd and Malaga.

He was expected to bloom at Arsenal but disciplinary problems affected his progress.
