Nigeria are set to lose defender Gani Ogungbe for their important semi-final clash against Mali on Thursday at the African Youth Championship in Johannesburg.
Ogungbe suffered a thigh strain in the 2-0 defeat of the Gambia on Sunday and he will be closely monitored by team physicians to see if he will make the starting list for Thursday.
Another defender, Emmanuel Anyanwu also hurt his shoulder in the game against Gambia. However, he has been certified to play.
On the other hand, Mali will be without three of their main players due to suspensions. Midfielder Doumbia Cherif got a red card in their last game against Lesotho while striker Coulibaly Kalifa and Diarra Mady were sent off against Egypt.
Nigeria are already short of two players who were dropped on the eve of the competition for being over age as well as the departure of striker Ahmed Musa who returned to his Dutch club VVV Venlo after the first game.
