Gambia U-20 faces a daunting task in their game against Ghana today as the darling Scorpions have to either save face or ruin their chances of progressing to the semis.
Gambia, who were outclassed by the Ghana under 20 in the last qualifiers of the Africa Youth Championship are confident that their campaign to win their first silverware is still alive despite losing to Cameroon. Gambia under the tutelage of Gaffer Lamin Sarr is in the “group of dead” which consists of Cameroon, defending Champions Ghana and Nigeria. Gambia’s poor performance in its encounter against Cameroon has sparked debates amongst Gambian football enthusiasts with some criticizing Coach Sarr for failing to select some players. However, there are those who attribute Gambia’s poor performance to logistical problems.
