Bolton’s Kevin Davies expects Daniel Sturridge to push Didier Drogba and Fernando Torres for place in Chelsea team

Bolton striker Kevin Davies says on-loan forward Daniel Sturridge will be challenging Fernando Torres and Didier Drogba for a place in the Chelsea team next season.

Sturridge has scored seven goals in nine games for the Trotters this season and has received rave reviews from fans and pundits alike.

Davies has partnered the youngster in attack since his arrival at the Reebok Stadium from Chelsea and he says the form he has been showing is “unbelievable”.

“The ability Danny’s got is really something. In training he looks unbelievable,” Davies was quoted as saying by The Sun.

“I’ve not seen anyone like that for years.

“He’s very confident and now he’s playing regularly he’ll want to challenge Torres and Drogba.

“He’s got what it takes to go right to the very top. It’s been great to have him with us.”

Bolton have been dealt a blow after it emerged that Sturridge is a doubt ahead of Wednesday night’s trip to Fulham with an ankle injury.
