Blackpool boss Ian Holloway expects to lose key players at end of season

Blackpool manager Ian Holloway is facing up to the prospect of losing some of his key players this summer.

The Tangerines boss says that it all depends on whether his team retain their Premier League status this year as to whether he keeps some players and brings in others.

Blackpool are currently in a huge slump that sees them lie just one place and one goal above the relegation zone with four games to play and Holloway is planning for next season, regardless of their divisional status.

“I’ve had a look at who is out of contract, who has an option and who definitely won’t be here,” Holloway told The Sun.

“Unless we stay up or improve what we’ve offered them, we may lose some of them.”

Players out of contract in the summer include David Vaughan, Stephen Crainey and Matt Gilks while Holloway is also facing up to the prospect of losing star midfielder, Charlie Adam, who will undoubtedly interest Premier League clubs.

“I’m chilled about it but I’ve had a look around and done some research,” Holloway added.

“If we get extra cash for staying up, it may change the dynamics.”

Blackpool host Stoke on Saturday before travelling to face Tottenham a week later.

Following that, they host Bolton at Bloomfield Road before daunting final day trip to Manchester United.
