Citi News sources have revealed that the university management is discussing the possibility of introducing a feeding scheme next academic year to cater especially for non-residential students.
Students will be required to obtain a coupon to access a meal in the university’s central cafeteria.
Some agitated students of the university claim the proposal is a misplaced priority. But the registrar of the University, Joseph Marfo-Budu said it is just a proposal and it will be thoroughly assessed before its introduction.
He added that “it’s not school feeding but its where everyone who is on campus takes a meal from what is available. It’s not something that the university is going to provide but you know elsewhere when you’re living on campus you have a meal planned so you commit yourself to a certain minimum number of meals.
“The thing has not been decided yet, and when it is, it would be made public. Its under discussion, the details are being noted. The idea is to make sure that students feed properly under hygienic conditions, all these things would be discussed, if its not feasible, it would not be implemented”.
