Zanzibar — Zanzibar President Ali Mohamed Shein said on Saturday that the Easter sports bonanza will strengthen the existing relationship between isles and mainland’s public and private institutions.

Speaking at a well coming ceremony for sportsmen and ladies from Ikulu Dar es Salaam, Shein said the bonanza is worth nurturing for fostering relationship and for health.

“Use the Easter sports bonanza to build relations as well as improve your health,” said Shein at the meeting held at the Zanzibar State House.

The Isles Minister of State (State House) Dr Mwinyhaji Makame informed the sportsmen and ladies from Ikulu Zanzibar and Ikulu Dar es Salaam that both President Shein and President Jakaya Kikwete loved sports, which he said, was a plus for the development of sports in the country.

Abdul Mpechi, Head of Zanzibar State House sports department thanked their counterpart from Dar es Salaam for visiting Zanzibar saying, “A lot about developing sports would be achieved through frequent visits.”

On his part, Union State House Comptroller Shaaban Gurumo thanked Zanzibaris for the good reception and continued co-operation.

Different games including football, basketball, have been going on at various venues involving sportsmen and ladies of Zanzibar (hosts) and Tanzania mainland.
