American hip hop act John David Jackson over the weekend gave patrons their monies worth and a lot to cheer about, when he staged one of the biggest concerts ever to be held at the Dome of the Accra International Conference Centre.

It was a day that a heavy downpour had caused so much havoc to most of Accra’s streets but the city’s rave heads defied the rains and trooped to the Dome of the AICC to witness what would go down in Ghana’s entertainment history books as a concert that lived up to its pre event hype.

Just as 233 Connect, the organizers of the event had promised to deliver a concert of a lifetime, the Fabolous Live in Ghana event, gave a whole new meaning to hip hop as a genre and an enough undertone and perfect picture of events yet to come. Accompanied by loud cheers from the ecstatic crowd, the night saw almost every Ghanaian act including Ghana’s own VIP, 4X4, Sarkodie, Scientific, J-Town, Kevin Beats, Ruff and Smooth, Paedae of R2Bees, right on point with their stage acts.

It also afforded Nigerian act Ice Prince, an opportunity to redeem a previously dented public appeal as he virtually rewrote a new script and chapter in his life as a performer with an astounding stagecraft and delivery. His “Oleku” song which obviously was the toast of most patrons got the entire auditorium up their feet.

Wizkid on the other hand put up an equally good stage act as he wowed the crowd with his “Holla at your boy” EP. The excitement level went up some decibels higher when the main headline act Fabolous mounted the stage. Ably supported by his hype man and with the Ghana flag wrapped around his neck, the Loso man from Brooklyn, New York, dished out an impressive selection of old and new songs from his rich album repertoire, much to the admiration of the vibrant crowd.

Fabolous’ performance was so good on the night, he managed to massage the mood of most people who had a difficult time entering the Dome due to the large numbers that had queued to catch a glimpse at him even as at 12:00pm. And just when the crowd thought they’ve had enough of a night full of extraordinary performances, in came rap artist Redcafe. An astounding performer by all standards, Redcafe kept the excitement level at bay and ensured a steady but jolly transition deep into the wee hours of Sunday morning.

The Fabolous Live in Ghana concert has more than anything, proved the readiness of the organizers, 233 Connect who have promised to raise the standards in events organizing in Ghana.
True to their word of staging four big shows this year, 233 Connect has hinted of another concert in June, details of which would be announced pretty soon.

In a related development, the organizers have appealed to patrons of who had a difficulty entering the Dome due to lapses in the security detail at the venue’s gates. They have also expressed their deepest regret over the way and manner some media personnel where handled by the security personnel, promising that an improved and efficient system would be put in place to ensure those incidents are not repeated at any of their upcoming shows.

The Fabolous Live in Ghana concert was proudly powered by 233 Connect. It was sponsored by Kick Energy Drink, Vodka Kick and supported by YFM, HITZ FM, JOY FM and E.Tv. The show was hosted by DJ Abrantie from Choice FM (UK). Music was provided by DJ Black.
