Burgess: scans on ankle injury proved inconclusive
England prop Sam Burgess suffered an ankle injury in South Sydney’s 36-24 defeat to Canterbury on April 23 and could miss the remainder of the NRL season.
Burgess is set to miss at least six weeks but may be sidelined for longer after scans on the injury proved inconclusive.
Rabbitohs coach John Lang initially played down fears that Burgess would be out for a long period, but the club have since released a statement revealing the former Bradford Bulls man would need an arthroscopy on the ankle.
A decision on how long the 22-year-old will be out for will be made following the procedure.
“Sam will miss at least six weeks of football following the arthroscopy and this time period will be revised once the total damage to his ankle has been determined,” the club said.
