The Action Congress of Nigeria in Osun State and the State Security Service have disagreed over the detention of a member of the party, Mr Adebayo Adeleke.

A motion filed by the ACN before an Ikirun High Court, Ikirun, urged Justice I.O. Adeleke to declare the arrest and detention of Adeleke as illegal.

But the SSS, in a counter affidavit, gave reasons why Adeleke, who is popularly known as Banik, should be detained.

The party prayed the court to order the immediate release of Adeleke from SSS detention in Osogbo just as it urged the court to restrain the SSS from re-arresting him.

Both the affidavit by the party and the counter affidavit by the SSS were sourced by our correspondent, on Monday.

The court granted the three prayers of the party, which went ahead to press charges of alleged disobedience of court order against the SSS, following the non-release of Adeleke.

But the SSS, in a counter affidavit, said the alleged offences for which Adeleke was being tried were treasonable.

According to the SSS, a suspect being tried for treasonable offences should not be admitted to bail.

The counter affidavit filed by SSS lawyer, Mr. Mike Ubi, said Adeleke’s release would not serve the interest of justice.

Adeleke was represented in court by Miss V.A. Adeyanju, who is a counsel in Wale Afolabi chambers, Osogbo.
