The pair were believed to be part of a gang of youngsters out boozing on the streets of Paisley. And sources suggested the boy is a pupil at a Catholic secondary school in the town. A local said: “It is shocking that kids that age were drinking, never mind sex accusations.”
Police swooped on Saturday after they were made aware of the rape accusation. It is believed both the alleged victim and attacker had been hanging around in the group of kids drinking over the weekend.
And it was also claimed that an adult was persuaded to buy alcohol for teenagers in the gang who shared it with the two 12-year-olds. Both youngsters are four years under the legal minimum age fror consensual sex. A Strathclyde Police spokeswoman said: “A 12-year-old has been arrested.
“He is due to appear in court at a later date in connection with an alleged indecent assault in Paisley on Saturday.”
