Achievement: Scored twice against PSV

The 20-year-old scored twice in Feyenoord’s 3-1 victory over PSV in the Eredivisie. He was also involved in his team’s third goal and his brilliant performance gave the Rotterdam-based side the revenge they were looking for since their 10-0 demolition by PSV earlier this season.

Feyenoord also remain in slim contention of garnering a place in Europe for themselves next season and Wijnaldum’s brace will put him in the spotlight.

Honourable Mentions

Ashkan Dejagah – Wolfsburg (Castrol Ranking: 1511)

The 24-year-old came on as a substitute against Koln just after the half-hour mark and made a massive impact on the game. He scored twice in what eventually was a 4-1 victory for Wolfsburg, who have now given themselves a chance of surviving the drop from the Bundesliga.

Cristiano Ronaldo – Real Madrid (Castrol Ranking: 2)

Last weekend the Portugal international scored from the penalty spot to earn Real Madrid a point from their Primera Division encounter with Barcelona. In midweek he headed home the only goal of the match in extra-time in the Copa del Rey final against the same opponents. The 26-year-old scored twice in succession in two big games, and helped Madrid win their first major trophy since 2008.

Alejandro Gomez – Catania (Castrol Ranking: 443)

The diminutive striker expressed his eagerness to take control of the ball and run at the Juventus defence in the Serie A encounter between the two teams in Turin on Saturday evening. He hit the frame of the Juve goal in the first-half and eventually scored on 81 minutes, a strike that allowed the Sicilians to come from two goals down to draw 2-2.

Sergio Aguero – Atletico Madrid (Castrol Ranking: 10)

The Argentina international’s future is up in the air with suggestions that he will leave for England in the summer. However, Aguero continues to do his best for last year’s Europa League winners as he scored twice against Levante in their 4-1 victory in the Primera Division on Sunday evening. The striker’s performance and his goal saw Atletico continue to strive for a place in Europe next season.
