Unite, RB Tells Rural Women, Youth

PRESIDENT Rupiah Banda has called on rural women and youths to team up and formulate strategies which will enable them take an active role in the development of their own areas.

President Banda said it was important for every Zambian, especially women and youths, to be drivers of the development process in their communities and stop being mere spectators leaving everything to be done by the central Government.

In a speech read for him by MMD Masaiti District chairperson Michael Katambo during the hand-over ceremony of chitenge materials and sets of soccer jerseys to the women and youths of Mutaba Ward at Muteteshi Middle Basic School grounds yesterday, the president said no Zambian should feel marginalised as far as contributing to the country’s development was concerned.

Mr Banda said the winning of last month’s Mutaba Ward by-election by the MMD was a clear indication that the people of Mutaba in Kafulafuta Constituency wanted to align themselves with the Government’s vision to develop the country.

“I am personally grateful to the people of Mutaba Ward who have demonstrated their commitment to work with my Government by voting for the MMD during the recently-held ward by-election,” he said.

The soccer jerseys were given to youths while the women received the chitenge materials.
