23 April 2011 Luanda — The senior female handball team of Petro de Luanda return tonight at 6pm in the country, after winning Friday in Yaounde (Cameroon), the African Cups Winners Cup, following a victory at the final against the local FAP by 32-20. The group, commanded by Vivaldo Eduardo, achieved the objectives in Yaounde and now they focuses on the home competitions, which includes the Luanda Provincial games and the Big One Cup According to assistant coach, Edgar Neto, priority is given to the National Championship, whose goal is to win it

“SHOW character, composure and create doubts in your opponents. We want to you bring back home silverware.”

These were the motivational words with which Karas governor Clinton Swartbooi yesterday sent off the under-20 Karas Region team to Gobabis for this year’s The Namibian Newspaper Cup.

“This time around for Karas Region it’s all about winning. We don’t want you to just participate in the cup tournament, but want to compete and win it,” he added.

Swartbooi further commended The Namibian for the “innovative and consistent manner” in which it supports youth sport development.

“This exciting sport flagship event, which I have never missed since its inception, pulls good talented soccer players from all 13 regions,” said Swartbooi.

He also took the opportunity to call on mining and fishing companies operating in the region to invest in youth sport development programmes.

“I want the region’s fishing and mining giants to at least invest N$5 million in sport,” said Swartbooi.
