THE Government has reiterated its respect and recognition of the significant role that the Judiciary plays to promote good governance in Zambia.
Science, Technology and Vocational Training Minister Peter Daka said the Judiciary was an important organ which should be left to operate independently because it fostered good governance needed for the development of the country.
MrDaka said President Rupiah Banda had a lot of respect, trust and confidence in the judicial system of the country and would ensure that it continued to operate autonomously according to its mandate.
He said President Banda was impressed with the work of judges and magistrates in Zambia because of their continued hard work to ensure citizens abided by Zambia’s laws.
Mr Daka said this on Saturday when he officiated at a weddingrenewal of vows ceremony of a Ndola-based Judge MunalulaLisimba and his wife Gift held at Acamms Lodge in Lusaka.
The minister said President Banda was a concerned leader and would always work to ensure that such important organs like the Judiciary worked independently to meet the demands of citizens.
“The Judiciary plays a key role in promoting good governance in our country. President Banda has a lot of respect and confidence in the way the Judiciary operates and will always work to ensure this organ, like others, operates independently.
“As Government, we are grateful to the work of our judges in this country and we should always leave them to carry out their duties independently,” Mr Daka said.
He said President Banda was always a smiling leader and was working hard to ensure peace and development projects continued to be carried out in all sectors of the economy to uplift the livelihood of citizens.
Mr Daka urged the couple to respect the institution of marriage like Jesus Christ loved and respected the Church, especially that they decided to have their marriage renewedduring the week of Easter celebrations which signalled the death and resurrection of Jesus.
He said a peaceful and loving marriage was essential to contribute to the country’s development because development began in homes where a couple shared ideas and knowledge to foster economic growth.
“I want to tell you that a strong marriage is fundamental to contribute to our country’s development because when the two of you are living happily, you share ideas which in turn help the country to grow in a positive direction,” Mr Daka said.
He said the creation of wealth for the country should not only be the Government’s burden but citizens should join hands with positive ideas to initiate projects that would ensure economic growth.
He said Zambians were lucky to have such a blessed and hard working leader like President Banda and should utilise him to initiate further development projects in all parts of the country to create wealth and jobs for the citizens.
