Country to Have New Trade Model

Luanda — The minister of State and Head of the Civil Office of the President, Carlos Feijó, has revealed that during the first quarter of this year, the Commerce Ministry focussed on the creation of material conditions for the launching of a new model of internal and external trade, in Angola.

Speaking during the presentation of the balance of activities of the Angolan executive in the first quarter of 2011, the government official explained that the new model means a better supervision of the country’s external commercial activity, as well as a better record of imports and exports which enables the authorities to have an exact knowledge about the level of the economy and its trade relations with the exterior.

Thus, he said, in this reorganisation process, the Commerce Ministry has hired services for the creation of the information mechanism that will enable the institution to have a record of all the commercial activity, mainly with the exterior. As regards credit for the agriculture sector, Carlos Feijó stated that “in commercial terms, it has beenn decided that the agricultural credit by itself, as it had been conceived, would not resolve the problem, because it could facilitate the production of agricultural products, but it would not create the conditions for entrepreneurs to develop their activity”.

He explained that the risk was that there would be production but not the trading of the harvests. In view of this, he said, the government decided that besides the agricultural credit, there has to be also the provision of a commerce credit.
