Wayne Rooney has described Manchester United strike partner Javier Hernandez as the “buy of the century” following his winner in his side’s 1-0 victory over Everton at Old Trafford.
The Mexican international, who moved to Old Trafford from Guadalajara last summer in a £7 million deal, hit his 19th goal of the season in all competitions to secure all three points over David Moyes’ side on Saturday with an 83rd minute winner that leaves United six points clear at the top with only four games remaining.
Chicharito’s strike partner Rooney has taken to Twitter to praise the diminutive 22-year-old, after activating his account on Saturday.
Tweeting after the victory over his former club, he said: “Great result for us today. Love playing with Hernandez. Buy of century. Great lad to sic”.
Rio Ferdinand has also used Twitter to praise Hernandez, whose finishing ability and predatory instincts have already seen him compared to United legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who was also signed for a relatively small fee.
Ferdinand tweeted: “Hernandez aka Lil Pea is the real deal….what a debut season in the PL!”
