Kearney: will miss between six and eight weeks

Bradford have been dealt a blow with the news that Brett Kearney will be out for between six and eight weeks with a broken hand.

The utility back suffered the injury during Thursday evening’s derby defeat to Leeds Rhinos at Odsal Stadium.

Kearney joins team-mates Danny Addy, Jamie Langley and Nick Scruton on the sidelines for the Bulls, who currently languish outside the top eight.

Coach Mick Potter, who has been using the Australian at stand-off in recent weeks, admits it is “very disappointing” to lose such a key player.

“I am gutted for BK,” he said. “He has been playing really well and to lose him long term is very disappointing.

“However it is something we will just have to accept and we will look to other players in the squad to cover his position.”

The Bulls will also be without Tom Burgess for Monday’s game away at Catalan Dragons, which is live on Sky Sports, due to a knee injury.
