Tottenham striker Jermaine Defoe has admitted his disappointment at not having secured the three points against West Bromwich Albion, after Spurs conceded a late equaliser at White Hart Lane.
Defoe looked to have won the game for Spurs late on with his 100th goal for the club only for a Simon Cox stunner to ensure the points were shared much to the disappointment of the England striker.
He told Sky Sports: “It would have been nice to have won the game and getting the three points was important today but we didn’t do that.
“We managed to get the point and I suppose we’ve got to take that. They’re a good side and made it difficult.”
Defoe had to wait a long time for his landmark goal and he admitted that it had begun to weigh heavily on his mind.
When asked if he had been thinking of the landmark he added: “Every day. It’s one of those things when you want something so bad it takes a while to come but I’ve always said to myself ‘just keep getting into positions where you can score’.
“Keep working hard and I believe that if you work hard you get a lot of luck so to score the goal today was fantastic and to do it at home was good.”
Defoe’s recent lack of goals and playing time have seen him slump down the Castrol EDGE Rankings from a position of 24 in October to a current ranking of 575.
