Sunderland manager Steve Bruce is furious striker Asamoah Gyan has joined his side’s growing injury list.
Gyan who scored one of the four goals in their 4-2 win over Wigan at the Stadium of Light but pulled up with a hamstring problem.
Phil Bardsley had to be stretchered from the field after a clash of heads while Danny Welbeck.
And although the victory saw Sunderland end their horrific spell of nine games without a win, Bruce was left to rue the injuries that may the club short of striking options in the coming weeks.
He said: “Even though we’ve won today we’ve got away with it, you can’t keep getting injured like we are.
”I know Phil Bardsley’s is just a clash of heads but we’ve got two hamstring injuries, Danny [Welbeck] has maybe not recovered from the last injury he had and of course Gyan in the 70th minute [get injured]. It’s just ridiculous.
“It’s just ridiculous. Who’s going to play up-front next week? God only knows because we haven’t got an available striker at the club.”
