The Minister of Disaster Preparedness and Refugee Affairs, Gen. Marcel Gatsinzi, is in Zambia, to sensitise Rwandan refugees about the benefits of returning home.

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Capt. Jean Damascene Kayitana, said that the minister would be visiting many other countries.

“The minister is now in Zambia and thereafter, he will head to Zimbabwe early next month; we also expect him to visit other countries,” Kayitana said.

Gatsinzi headed a delegation that also included Jean Sayinzoga, the Chairman of the Rwanda Demobilisation and Reintegration Commission (RDRC), Senator Aloysie Inyumba, Lt. Col Elie Mutarambirwa and three former refugees.

It is estimated that Zambia is home to 4,000 Rwandan refugees.
