Former Tottenham defender Gary Mabbutt has praised Harry Redknapp and the impact he has had on the club since joining from Portsmouth in 2008.
When Redknapp took over, Spurs were languishing in the relegation zone, however, last season they managed to finish fourth in the Premier League, qualifying for the Champions League.
After nearly being knocked out at the qualifying stages by Young Boys, they managed to reach the quarter-finals where they ultimately lost to Real Madrid.
Mabbutt believes that Spurs will continue to attract top players should they once again finish in the top four, something he doesn’t believe is past the team just yet.
Speaking to talkSPORT, Mabbutt said: “If you look at where we were two years ago when Harry took over we’ve come a long, long way.
“The likes of Luka Modric, Rafael van Der Vaart and Gareth Bale, those players are of course going to be attracting the attention of other clubs and that’s going to happen. When you’re successful that’s what you expect.
He continued: “Tottenham now don’t want to be a team that is grooming players to move on. We want to be a team that is top four every season and challenging for the major honours.
“That’s what the club’s ambitions are, hopefully we can get fourth spot and strengthen to become even stronger.”
