The CAVB men’s club championship will now be held in Egypt after initial hosts Morocco tendered their withdrawal. Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) chairman Waithaka Kioni said he was informed of the decision by the CAVB technical director Howyda Modi who disclosed that the Moroccan federation withdrew due to lack of sponsors. “The event will now be held at the CAVB host city of Cairo in Egypt,” added Kioni. He said this new development may affect the dates of the competition which CAVB promised to communicate in due course. The event is set to kick off on April 23. Kenya Prisons and General Service Unit (GSU) are expected to represent the country at the continental tournament. The clubs have been training at Nyayo Stadium for the last one month. Kenya Prisons won the women’s Africa Club Championship held in Nairobi a week ago, with Kenya Pipeline scooping silver.
