SIX states of Imo, Lagos, Benue, Kaduna, Akwa Ibom and Adamawa have been picked for the United Nations Assistant Framework (UNDAF) II for development programmes worth N150 billion.

Declaring open a two-day workshop for preparation of the work plan for the project in Owerri, the UN team leader in Imo State, Reuben Bamidele and the Commissioner for Planning and Economic Development, Chief Levi Oguike, said the states were picked based on merit, having met the indexes for the selection.

According to them, the essence of the workshop was to ensure that projects cited in communities are not duplicated at the risk of allowing areas of need to suffer.

Oguike said the areas chosen by the UN team to expand include good governance, agriculture and employment.  He commended the team for choosing Imo as one of the benefiting states, promising that the state would not fail the UN in executing the projects.

Highlight of the interaction programme was the production of work plan by each group at the forum.
