Oyo State Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) Alhaji Lateef Akinsola, a.k.a. Tokyo, yesterday accused Police Commissioner Adisa Bolanta of bias.

He alleged that Bolanta was a staunch supporter of Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala.

Tokyo and his former deputy, Alhaji Lamidi Mukaila, a.k.a. Auxiliary, were said to have been invited by Bolanta to get assurances on peaceful elections.

Tokyo told reporters that he did not need the invitation of the police chief to know the importance of peaceful elections, adding that he has been sensitising members of the union.

He accused Bolanta of perfecting plans to arrest him and other NURTW leaders.

Tokyo said: “The Commissioner of Police is not known to be a friend because of his bias attitude, being an ardent supporter of Alao-Akala.

“Why would the commissioner invite me? For what, to put me in the cell again? He has not showed himself as a friend right from the beginning of our struggle, rather, he has been very bias. I don’t need his invitation to ensure peaceful elections. All my members have been sensitised on the need for free and fair polls. We have gone on the radio, newspapers and even house to house campaign. So, we don’t need a person like Bolanta.”

The Agbekoya society also accused the police of arresting five of its members.

Bolanta said aside from the invitation of the factional leaders of the NURTW, the command was also looking out for people with the tendency to incite people into violence.
