Netherlands manager Bert van Marwijk has claimed that Robin van Persie should be fit for Arsenal’s clash with Blackburn on Saturday despite being forced off with an injury during the 5-3 win over Hungary on Tuesday night.

The knock to the 27-year-old’s thigh looked serious at the time and will have had fans worrying about their key striker, but Van Marwijk thinks it shouldn’t even keep Van Persie out for a week.

He told The Sun: “Robin took a knee to his thigh but with a little bit of luck he should be able to play for Arsenal this weekend.”

The news will come as a great relief to Arsene Wenger as the Dutchman’s goals have been key to his side’s title challenge so far this campaign, with Van Persie netting an impressive 11 times in just 16 appearances.
