A Gambian side hit by player withdrawal succumbed to a 1-0 defeat against Equatorial Guinea in a rare international friendly match played last night in Malabo.
Playing in front of the home crowd, the co-hosts of the 2012 African Nations Cup finals made sure their home advantage counted when they opened the scoring in the first interval before succesfully defending the lone-goal advantage throughout the regulation.
Yesterday’s loss was Scorpions second international friendly setback in less than two months, having lost 3-1 to lowly-rated Guinea Bissau in Portugal in early February.
