Roma defender Philippe Mexes insists should he leave the club during the summer, he wishes to remain in Italy.
The French international has been the subject of rumours linking him with possible moves to England, with Arsenal and Liverpool both reportedly interested, but the 29-year-old says he wishes to stay in Serie A.
“I want to remain in the Serie A for as long as I can,” the stopper told Canal+. “I have settled in well in Italy.
“I now know the league quite well and do not want to move away.”
Mexes has also been linked with a move to AC Milan, but is also reportedly in talks for a contract renewal with the Lupi.
The defender scored a goal in France’s 2-0 win over Luxembourg in a Euro 2012 qualifier on Friday evening.
