Papa SheeAfter disappearing from the music scene for quite some time now, one of Ghana’s entertaining and sometimes controversial highlife artistes, Papa Shee has resurfaced; as an evangelist!

Back in the 90s, Papa Shee was one of the popular musicians in Ghana known for his flashy outfits and videos and sometimes suggestive lyrics; who can forget songs like Atadwe, Koyonso or Ate Pa but now he says those days are far behind him; he is now a born again Christian who ministers the Word of God to people.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Adom Entertainment News, Papa Shee originally known as Nana Yaw Akosah said he has been a preacher-man for about two years now and is very fulfilled in his new mission.

After his last album, Ate Pa in 2004, Papa Shee left for the United States base and had been on the quiet until 2009 when he came out with Akokono Ato Pa Gen which was not really well received after which nothing much was heard from him until now.

Papa Shee told Adom Entertainment News that he had the calling to become an evangelist after a prayer session with his brother in the bush at Maryland in the US and has never looked back since then; preaching and inspiring people to come to God.

He said he had started an initiative known as the “The Lord’s Tower Prayer Line” where he prays and counsels fellow believers on the phone to strengthen their faith.

He disclosed that his days of playing secular songs are over and he will no longer compose or sing songs that go contrary to the Word of God.  “Even if I will sing or mount a stage to perform again,  it will be purely gospel,” he revealed.

Known as the “Boy Wonder” during his active singing years, Papa Shee started dancing at age six and in his teenage years, was a lead dancer for artistes like Daddy Lumba (DL) and the late Akwasi Ampofo Adjei (AAA).

He turned to singing in 1994 and released his debut album, Mebo m’amanne sen Nie the same year followed by Deda Me (1996), Atadwe (2000), Koyon So (2002), Ate Pa (2004) plus a DVD compilation in 2005.

Papa Shee  graced many Ghanaian entertainment events in Ghana and the USA and received awards including Best African Hip Hop Artiste at the African Hollywood Awards as well as the first place Award from African Idol (USA).

Now that he become a preacher, Papa Shee joins artistes like Gemann, Azigiza Jnr, Jesse Jones, Akosua Agyapong among others who have all turned to God.
