Series leader Keith Henrie hopes to maintain his dogged campaign in pursuit of his maiden title as the second round of the Kenya national autocross championship moves to Ganze, Kilifi this weekend.
Henrie, who was in Ganze last year, anticipates stiff opposition from the Mombasa based Rathod siblings-Karan and Rikin.
Defending champion Steve Anthony is also contemplating a go at the Ganze race depending on how his weekend commitments go. “I hope to be in Ganze but I have got a lot of work to do,” said Anthony.
Henrie started off his 2011 title campaign on a winning note, clinching round 1 at Jamhuri Park on February 20. He hopes the gremlins of Ganze last year would be a thing of the past.
“Same track as last year, hopefully, no set backs like last year and if God is on my side, a win would be good enough,” he said.
Henrie had a miss fire in Ganze last year caused by loose connection occasioned by the rough road on the way into Ganze, “which meant I could not get my timing correct hence lack of power.” “I didn’t have enough time to sort it out. Hope all goes well for me this year at the coast,” said Henrie.
