Giovinco, currently on loan at Parma from Juventus, has been included in the Italy squad by coach Cesare Prandelli for their upcoming matches against Slovenia and Ukraine, and the 24-year-old believes that young players should be given more and more playing time to prove themselves for the national team.
In the wake of Prandelli’s recent statements regarding veterans Alessandro Del Piero and Francesco Totti, suggesting they would be the right choice for decisive matches, Giovinco said, according to Goal.com Italy: “We young players must be given the opportunity to grow and improve and to show on the pitch how much we are worth.”
Italy are currently top of Euro 2012 qualifying Group C with 10 points from four matches.
