Paulo Ferreira insists that he would like to finish his career at Chelsea.

The 32-year-old has spent seven years at the west London club, but has fallen down the pecking order behind Branislav Ivanovic and Jose Bosingwa.

But the former Portugal international has no intention of making a move away from Stamford Bridge, insisting that he remains happy to continue despite his current situation at the club.

“I have been seven years here at Chelsea and it is the club where I have spent most time,” said Ferreira.

“My family are happy here, so let’s see if I can finish playing here as well.”

The defender also has plans for life after retirement, as he intends to return to Portugal and start an academy in Estoril.

He said: “I have in my mind to open an academy back home in my village.

“I want to be involved in helping kids play football and to teach them what I have learned.”
