Lindsay Lohan going to trial after formally rejecting plea deal in necklace theft case

Lindsay Lohan has rejected a judge’s offer of a plea deal in her jewellery theft case and will no face trial, it has been confirmed.

The move signals the actress intends to fight a case filed over a necklace she has been accused of stealing from an high-end jewellery store in Venice, California.

Superior Court Judge Keith Schwartz never publicly detailed the terms of his offer to Lohan, but said if she pleaded no contest or guilty in the case, he would sentence her to jail.

Prosecutors are also seeking jail time for the Mean Girls star, who
was on probation for a 2007 drunken driving case when store officials
told police that Lohan had taken a necklace without permission in
January.

Lohan’s attorney Shawn Holley notified the prosecutor handling the
case that Lohan would not be taking Schwartz’s plea offer, district
attorney’s spokeswoman Jane Robison said.

Wednesday was the deadline for Lohan to notify Schwartz of her
intentions and she will now be required to appear in court on April 22
for a preliminary hearing.

The hearing will be conducted by a new judge – the fourth one Lohan
has faced in the past year – who will determine whether there is enough
evidence for Lohan to stand trial on the felony grand theft charge.

If the judge rules Lohan should stand trial, the actress could
immediately be sentenced for a probation violation and sent to jail for
the fourth time.

Assault:

The actress, 24, has pleaded not guilty to the charge and denied wrongdoing.

Meanwhile, Lindsay’s father Michael Lohan has been charged with domestic violence after being arrested on Monday night.

He was allegedly holding his girlfriend against her will and preventing her from calling the police.

The 50-year-old was arrested on three felony charges of domestic
violence, preventing the report of the victimisation, false imprisonment
and inflicting corporal injury on a cohabitant.

Although his bail was initially set at
$30,000 he was later released without having to post that sum and
instead posted just $250.

The charge against Michael has now been reduced to a single misdemeanor charge of ‘inflicting injury on a Cohabitant’.

His
arraignment date has been set for May 23 when he has been ordered to
appear at the Beverly Hills Court. He is expected to plead not guilty.

Michael’s
girlfriend, Kate Major, filed the report at the Los Angeles County
Sheriff’s Department after an argument between the couple turned
physical.

LAPD Lt John Ratto told People: ‘Mr. Lohan was arrested after we received a call around 9pm regarding a domestic dispute.

‘He was detained after he was spotted walking on the street near our
station. He showed no signs of intoxication that I’m aware of and has
been co-operative.’

years but the pair have appeared closer in recent months

Michael was in the process of being booked
when he was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre after complaining of
chest pains but was released yesterday.

His alleged victim suffered minor injuries, but declined medical attention, according to RadarOnline.com.

The Celebrity Rehab star has told the site that he vows to press
charges against Major because he was the one assaulted and showed the
site deep scratch marks on his arm and bloodied shirt.

‘I asked to press charges on her. Look I’m the one who got cut, I’m the one that was bleeding!’, Michael said.

‘I’m going to press charges against Kate and I’m going to try to have her arrested before she leaves California’, he added.

He said he wants Kate charged with robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, domestic assault and trespassing.

‘She
Major was drunk again’, Michael claimed adding: ‘Actually Dr Drew and
the people at Celebrity Rehab did an intervention when she came on the
set drunk one day and she was banned from the set after that’.

Michael
said he felt Major was insane: ‘She  belongs in an asylum…she’s
crazy…and I’m even crazier for falling for all her ploys and lies,’ he
said, adding that he feels like he has been set-up.

Sources close to Major have denied she was drunk or using drugs during the dispute.

Lindsay, 24, has endured a turbulent relationship with her father and was estranged from him for several years.

But the pair have appeared closer in recent months and were spotted enjoying dinner together last month.

Michael
said that Lindsay has reached out to him: ‘I have not talked to her,
but she sent me many messages expressing her concern and well wishes for
me. I’ll be in touch with my daughter.’

Lindsay Lohan’s attempt at being a fashion designer and creating
her own collection for French design house Ungaro has bombed.

The
disastrous pieces were never sold in any of the high-end stores that
most designers strive to see their labels in, and instead have made
their way on to eBay.

The troubled actress had collaborated with former Ungaro designer Estrella Archs as the artistic director.

to Imaginary Socialite, four of the better dresses from the collection
have now surfaced on the eBay’s stylebug section.

One of which is a pink mini dress which was featured in the line’s Spring 2010 collection.

It is described as a, ‘beautiful cocktail dress with long sleeves and cut out detail along the sleeves with zipper cuffs’.

The dress has an symmetrical v-neckline and fitted silhouette with tapered hem with a side zipper closure.

It is on the site reduced by 25% and is on sale for $442.50 or the nearest offer.

Ungaro’s
designs normally retail for thousands of dollars whereas Lohan’s line
is being sold off for a fraction of the usual prices.

The clothing
label suffered a backlash from the fashion industry after Lindsay
strutted the catwalk for the preview at Paris Fashion Week in October
2009.

Elle magazine reported that the French fashion house has since closed
down most of its boutiques and department stores like Saks Fifth Avenue
and Neiman Marcus rid itself of clothes from the fashion line.

Ungaro’s owner Asim Abdullah confirmed in March last year that Lindsay was no longer collaborating with the company.
