THOMAS Olumbo and Ben Oluoch will handle the Nairobi men and women teams for next month’s East and Central Africa Inter Cities Championships. Nairobi Basketball Association (NBA) secretary Sylvia Kamau Ocholla said the teams will train once a week at the Railways Club in readiness for the five-day tournament planned for April 19-23. “The men’s team will train on Tuesdays while the ladies will have theirs on Wednesdays only.
This is due to the fact that the league has started and clubs need to train with their teams,” she said. Olumbo, who handles former national champions Eagle Wings will be assisted by Emmanuel ‘Ajush’ Ochieng of Terrorists. Nairobi will enter four teams-two in each category-from NBA and Kenya University Sports Association (KUSA) whose league matches are drawing to a close. Other than four teams from Nairobi, Mombasa, Kampala, Jinja, Dar es salaam, Tanga, Arusha and Mwanza will also be represented in the championship, which is now in its 14th year.
