Andrea Pirlo will leave AC Milan at the end of the season and Juventus have emerged as the most probable destination for the World Cup winner, Goal.com can reveal, with discussions already underway.

The 31-year-old is not likely to be offered a new deal by the Rossoneri before his current terms expire in June and Juventus have already opened dialogue over a proposed move, while Manchester City are believed not to be in contention for the playmaker’s signature.

In order to move to Turin, Pirlo would have to accommodate Juve’s request to reduce his £3 million per year wage demands.

A source close to Juventus told Goal.com: “Pirlo will definitely leave Milan at the end of the season. Milan have not offered him a new deal and they are unlikely to as there are already negotiations with Juventus which began last month.

“Giuseppe Marotta met with Adriano Galliani and they have been speaking about Pirlo.

“Juventus have moved forward already and they are developing negotiations with Milan, with Galliani having already gone to Turin for talks with Juve asking whether they can get Pirlo, and so there is a negotiation with Juventus and this is likely to develop further in June.”

Bianconeri chiefs are expected to talk with Pirlo over terms during the coming months.

“The only problem would be his wages, around €3.5m £3m, but if Pirlo reduces to €2.5m £2.2m then Juventus will get him for sure,” said the source.

“Juventus are in pole position to sign him and they are really interested. People at the club have been speaking about him and Marotta is interested.

“They Juve have excellent transfer relations with Milan and they have helped each other in the past.

“Marotta wants Pirlo, and he is speaking with Galliani and they are trying to take him to Turin for next season. The only thing is that they have not agreed a deal with the player yet.”

Manchester City have been linked recently with a move for the classy midfielder, but Juve’s cordial relations with AC Milan are likely to facilitate a move across Serie A.

The source continued: “Manchester City, I think this is just a new rumour, whereas with Juventus there are advanced talks for Pirlo with Milan.

“Because Juve and Milan usually help each other out, Galliani will try to push Pirlo to Turin in the summer.”
