Tom Huddlestone set to return from ankle injury against Wigan Athletic – Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp

Tottenham midfielder Tom Huddlestone is set to return from injury against Wigan Athletic at the beginning of April, according to manager Harry Redknapp.

The 24-year-old has been sidelined for four months with an ankle problem but has recently returned to full training and Redknapp believes the upcoming international break will give Huddlestone the time to prepare for a return against Wigan on April 2.

“Tom’s a fantastic footballer and it’s great to have him back training,” Redknapp told Tottenham’s official website.

“We’ve two weeks now where we can really work with him and hopefully get him ready for the next game.

“There is no reason why he shouldn’t make that with a fortnight’s training.”

With Huddlestone returning to action, Redknapp will now face a selection dilemma in the centre of his midfield.

Luka Modric, Jermaine Jenas, Sandro and Wilson Palacios are all vying for a central spot, meaning that competition will be fierce for a place in the starting XI, but Redknapp is pleased to have the midfielder back in his squad.

He added: “Yes, Sandro has done well and we’ve JJ, Wilson.

“They are all good players and Tom is another good player, so it’s good to have him back.”
