SOME Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidates in next month’s elections have warned those they described as “desperate politicians” against rigging the polls.
The six candidates in Ekiti Central Federal Constituency II said they would resist attempt to rig the election, adding: “Those that are relying on violence and rigging to win elections next month should shelve the idea in their own interest.”
The candidates led by the senatorial candidate for Ekiti Central, Kayode Alufa, included House of Representatives candidate, Kehinde Odebunmi, House of Assembly candidates, Femi Jegede (Ekiti West I), Ajibade Owolabi (Ekiti West II), Bisi Kolawole (Efon) and Brig Gen Adedunmoye Ayeni (Ijero) were addressing thousands of PDP supporters at a rally in Efon-Alaaye yesterday.
Alufa said all lovers of democracy must raise their voice in support of the enforcement of one man, one vote during the elections, adding: “Any attempt by desperate politicians to unleash violence on the people and rig the elections will be thwarted.”
