The 1998 World Cup champions will have to do without the stopper for their Euro 2012 qualifier encounter against Luxembourg, after undergoing surgery to remove a liver tumour last week.
“For me, Eric Abidal was the best left-back,” the tactician told a press conference, as reported by Francefootball.fr. “We now hope to solve the problem in the position soon.
“Eric will take some time to return to his best. At present, there are players who are ready to take his place and secure the position on the park.
“I also know the side are taking seriously the upcoming match. I will sit down and analyse the position, and make up my mind on who to play,” he concluded.
France lead Group D on nine points after four matches.
