Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Ronald Zubar will miss the remainder of the season due to injury.
The 25-year-old French defender, signed for £2.5 million from Marseille during the summer of 2009, has undergone surgery on a back injury that has been troubling him for the past month, and Wolves boss Mick McCarthy has admitted that his absence will be felt.
Speaking to the club’s official website, McCarthy said: “Zubes has had his operation on his back and he’s out for the season.
“Ronald’s been an important player for us and it’s a blow, but we can’t do anything about it.
“His performances have been fantastic.”
Elsewhere and Wolves injury problems have shown signs of clearing up in recent times, with Stephen Hunt and long-term injury victims Michael Kightly and Adlene Guedioura both returning to training recently, however, Dave Edwards remains sidelined.
“Hunty and Adlene are back in training but Dave Edwards is still struggling with his back,” added McCarthy.
“Everyone else is fine – Michael Kightly was on the bench on Saturday.
“We’ll maybe get a training game into Adlene at the end of the week before he plays in the reserves against Blackpool a week on Wednesday.”
