Beautiful host of The One Show on Viasat 1, Joselyn Dumas, may be enjoying all the accolades, as some call her Ghana’s Oprah Winfrey. But it appears that is not enough to get the attention of Xtertic UK and Big Events, organizers of the first ever Radio & TV Personality awards scheduled to hit the entertainment industry this year.

On Monday, organizers released nominations for the award at a press conference held at Busy Internet in Accra. However, Viasat 1 was conspicuously missing in the nominations, with Joselyn Dumas’s The One Show, which has gained some prominence on the entertainment scene since last year, also missing in action.

However Prince Mackey, coordinator of the awards, told News-One that they dropped The One Show because it did not fall within the year under review. “If you look at the year in review, we are looking at the 2009 and 2010. Viasat 1, I know came earlier but The One Show is just about five months old so it does not qualify. It is a very good programme that could have made it but because it does not fall under review, we couldn’t nominate it. May be next year. At least, the programme must stay on air for one year.”

The one show, News-One investigations revealed, started airing on August 2 last year, which indeed makes the show 5 months old under the year in review.

However, the organizers appear to be playing double standards as some programmes nominated for the awards do not meet the one year standard. For instance, Etv’s Late Night Celebrity Show’ started somewhere in June 2010 during the world cup, which makes it about 7 months old in 2010. However, the show’s producer, Araba Forson, was nominated for Television Producer of the Year category while Dzifa Smith was also nominated for Television Female Entertainment Show Host of the Year Category for the same show.

The programme ‘Awake’ on Etv, hosted by Rashida Nasamu, was launched on March 6, 2010 also making it 10 months old. However the show also got nominations. Management of Viasat 1 refused to comment when News-One contacted it yesterday for a reaction. “No comment,” Afi Dzakpasu told News-One.
