Kenya: High Expectations as Track Season Start

    Athletics Kenya (AK) Nyanza North branch track and field meeting in Kisumu has attracted over 400 participants. AK Nyanza North branch public relations officer Jared Gilo, said the event will be held at Moi Stadium in Kisumu next weekend (March 25-26). Gilo said the event is fully sponsored by AK.

    Among the clubs expected to feature in the event are Kenya Police, Kenya Prisons, Armed Forces, Administration Police and National Youth Service. Other institutions of learning including Maseno University, University of Nairobi, Kenyatta University, JKUAT, Moi Unversity, Egerton, Masinde Muliro and Bondo University will also be present. Gilo said they also expect big names including Olymopic 1,500m champion Asbel Kiprop, former world 3,000m steeplechase champion Ezekiel Kemboi and world 800m record holder David Rudisha to launch their track season in Kisumu.

    He urged the schools in the region to take advantage of the event and participate.
