Kenya: Country’s Youngest Rally Driver Unveils New Car

    Arthur Kinyanjui is the youngest of Kenya’s top drivers. He is popularly known as ‘AK 47’ because he drives car number 47 plus his AK initials. The young driver has competed with the likes of legendary rally driver Ian Duncan in the Kenya National Autocross Championship where he came third in 2009.

    Kinyanjui is set to take part in the KCB Safari rally at Athi River on Sunday, making him the youngest ever rally driver at the prestigious rally. He will be navigated by his friend Brian Mbuvi. Despite issues with sponsorship, he has acquired a new Subaru Impreza N10 WRX STI vehicle.He unveiled this car on Wednesday at Uhuru Park in Nairobi as he turned 23. Hundreds of rally enthusiasts were present to witness this milestone in AK’s rallying career. Among them were Arthur’s parents, Onesmus Ngunjiri, a one-time Nakuru Kanu chairman, and Ruth Gathoni. Also in attendance were the PS in the Ministry of Sports James Waweru and the Commissioner for Sport Gordon Oluoch who unveiled the flashy new ride.
