The wrangles at AFC Leopards took a new twist yesterday as former chairman Julius Ochiel insisted that they will not hand over to Alex Ole Magelo’s team, owing to irregularities in the recently conducted elections. Ochiel said he had filed a successful petition on Monday, where it was concluded that a stakeholders meeting be held soon to discuss the elections disputes. He said Magelo’s team did not only observed the 21-day notice but also the elections were never held.
He said the Commissioner of Sports Gordon Oluoch wrote a letter to the registrar, confirming Magelo’s election yet he was not present at the March 6 polls. Ochiel said in view of the anomalies preceding the elections on March 6 and in respect to the intended meeting called by the registrar, they will not hand over to Magelo. Ochiel lauded Dr. Evans Kidero, the managing director of Mumias Sugar for accepting to attend the registrar’s meeting upon formal invitation by the registrar. Ochiel observed that the AFC election board collected over Sh2million from members towards the elections of February 13.
