Scoring is still pretty good in the final round, but the closing holes (a 460-yard par-4, 215-yard par-3, 445-yard par-4) is beating up those finishing up.

Nationwide Tour grad Steven Bowditch spent some serious cash just awhile ago — he finished double bogey, par, bogey to slide down to 4 under, costing him a top-25 finish. A check of other finishers found only a couple (Blake Adams and Kevin Na) managing to play it in under par.

With the wind picking up later, three pars will be a very good score around 6 p.m. ET.

Wind might pick up for late groups

The wind has been benign all week for everyone in the field, but it might pick up for those teeing off late Sunday in the final round.

The wind is expected to increase to around 10-15 mph this afternoon, giving players who tee off last a slight disadvantage. The weather has been nearly perfect for all four days, but if the wind picks up to around 15 mph, all bets are off.

This is a course where nothing can be left to chance. Jim Furyk was cruising along at 15 under with three holes to go last year, but bogeys on the two of the last three holes nearly cost him the win. One more point to drive home: The last four holes at Copperhead are brutal: A pair of 215-yard par-3s and two par-4s measuring over 445 yards.
