Whyte & Ellis To Complete Rangers Takeover By Next Friday

Businessmen Craig Whyte and Andrew Ellis could complete their protracted takeover of Rangers in just over a week and pump £25 million into the club over five years, according to Press Association Sport.

A source revealed that the Scot is set to take over Sir David Murray’s 75 per cent stake in the debt-ridden club with Ellis picking up the remainder.

The source is quoted as saying: “Everyone involved is working very hard to get the deal done.

“There are still a number of areas yet to be resolved and there are no guarantees but we are getting closer and all parties want to get it over the line.

“There is a confidence that if the deal is not done by next week then it certainly will be done in the next fortnight.”

Whyte has been in talks with Murray for several months and had appeared close to a buyout in December, but due diligence reportedly took longer than expected.
