The draw, which also included the semi-final ties, has drawn up the possibility for a Barcelona – Real Madrid semi-final, but Zubizaretta insists they are not looking towards that eventuality, and insists that both sides will have to work hard to reach that stage.
“Right now we won’t think of Madrid. There is a Real Madrid tie with Tottenham, and we will not think about the semi-final before Shakhtar,” claimed the Spanish goalkeeping legend.
The draw sees Barcelona play at home in the first leg, which pleased Zubi, who added: “We are experts in knowing that it is better to play the first leg at home.”
Shakhtar and Barcelona have met before in the Champions League, in the group stages of the 2008-09 tournament and also in the European Super Cup following Shakhtar’s UEFA Cup victory. Of the three matches they have played, Barcelona have won two, and Shakhtar one.
