Both Sam and brother Joel Tomkins will miss Wigan’s game against leaders Huddersfield on Friday after being suspended by the Rugby Football League.

Reigning champions Wigan travel to face current Super League leaders Huddersfield on Friday night but they will be without both Tomkins brothers for the clash.

The RFL disciplinary committee have banned both men as a result of their actions during a stormy 14-12 victory over Hull last weekend.

Second-rower Joel was sent off against Hull, and he has now been banned for two games and fined £300 for striking Hull centre Kirk Yeaman.

His brother Sam, Wigan’s full-back, was banned for just the one game and also fined £300 as he came into a brawl and was found guilty of punching in an incident that came before Joel’s red card.

The pair both played in every game last season as Wigan claimed the title, while Joel has not missed a game since April 2009 but misses the trip to Huddersfield and also the visit of Warrington to the DW Stadium a week on Friday.

Yeaman has not escaped punishment for his part in the brawl though, with the RFL handing him a one-game ban which rules him out of Hull’s game against Wakefield.

Also emerging from the game, Hull prop Lee Radford was found guilty of making dangerous contact with Wigan scrum-half Thomas Leuluai, but he was just fined £300 and not suspended because of his fine disciplinary record.

Crusaders man Peter Lupton was also found guilty, of a high tackle on Hull KR centre Jake Webster, but his previous good conduct also saw him escape with just a fine.
