Kampala — Amateur golfers will have extra motivation to go for the grand prize at the inaugural Dasani Golf Tour following the sponsors’ promise to reward the winning team with an all-expenses paid trip abroad.
The yet-to-be-revealed destination is the reward for the six-event tour series which gets underway tomorrow at the par-72 Uganda Golf Union (UGU) Kitante course. Proceeding legs will be played at other courses across the country. Four players, each with recognized handicaps, are required to form a team that can compete throughout the various legs without any changes in order to qualify for the final on June 26 at the par-72 Uganda Golf Union (UGU) Kitante course.
“It’s time to get rid of this perception that golf is for the rich. That’s why we are taking this tournament to up country venues,” Coca-Cola East Africa brand manager Maggie Kigozi told the media at the official launch, Wednesday.
Captains from Entebbe, Kitante and Jinja attended the unveiling. “Teams should select their best players because only the highest cumulative aggregate score is to be considered,” said UGU’s John Mwalimu said.
